In 2024, Canadian portrait artist Steven Rosati was asked to join an international competition commissioned by the Royal Canadian Mint. He was one of the final renowned artists chosen to design a new effigy of King Charles III that would be used on all Canadian coinage. Mr. Rosati\'s entry, consistent with his classical portrait style, was selected as the winner. After decades of coinage featuring Queen Elizabeth II, 2024 marked the first year that this noble effigy of King Charles III was minted.
