Working primarily in woodcut illustration, Gustave Doré became one of the most famous book illustrators in the world through his pioneering and romantic images for books authored by Edgar Allen Poe, Lord Byron and Cervantes, and now his beloved works grace this spectacular collection of Proof coins! At the height of his popularity, Doré was asked to illustrate the Bible. These dynamic images have been reproduced countless times around the world and are considered by many to be essential biblical artwork. Today, these epic biblical illustrations inspire the Greatest Stories of the Bible Proof Coin Collection, a first-ever release available exclusively from The Bradford Exchange Mint.

Intended as collectors\' items, each magnificent Proof coin in your collection is richly plated in 99.9% silver, offered in coveted Proof condition and features a golden cross privy mark. The reverse side of each Proof coin collectible showcases dramatic artwork created by the acclaimed Gustave Doré for the 1866 edition of the Bible. The coin\'s title and a corresponding verse from the Bible is printed as part of the design. Each coin’s obverse is graced by the open pages of the Good Book with a radiant cross arising from the center. \"Old Testament\" and \"New Testament\" appear in Latin. Proof-quality coining dies create polished, mirror-like fields and raised, frosted imagery. The coins are preserved for future generations in crystal clear capsules and the Display Box provides the perfect presentation.
